User guide
Everything you need to follow your favorite sites with Lector, in five minutes.
1. Getting started
Sign in with your Google account. The first time, your Lector account is created automatically. Your subscriptions and what you have read are kept in sync between your phone and your computer.
2. Adding subscriptions
- Press Add a subscription (or the a key) and paste the address of a website, blog or RSS feed.
- You don't need to know the feed address: Lector looks for the site's own feed automatically.
- If a blog has no RSS feed, Lector reads its list of posts directly from the page. These subscriptions are tagged Web in Settings; normal ones are tagged RSS.
- Check the address if you get an error: a typo such as
.coninstead of.comis the most common cause.
3. Reading
- List view (default) shows titles only; tap one to open it. Expanded view shows full items one after another.
- Items are marked as read when you open them or scroll past them. An item you are reading stays on screen until you press Refresh or change section.
- When a post only brings a summary, Lector fetches the full article for you. If it fails, use Load full article or open the original page.
- Star items to keep them in Starred for later.
- Unread only hides what you have already read; Mark all as read clears the current section.
- Use the search box to find items by words in their title or text.
4. Organizing with folders
In Settings you can create folders and move each subscription into one. Folders appear in the left menu (the ☰ menu on mobile) with their unread count. From Settings you can also rename or remove subscriptions.
